Brown
Veterans of Australia should be aware of a Nation wide audit of medals that are being worn on commemorative occasions. Maurice James Brown has been "fingered" as a medals cheat following a photograph published in the Sunshine Coast newspaper following ANZAC Day 2018
Brown wears six medals one of the six is a "Tin" self purchased commemorative medal that must not be worn with genuine medals on the left breast;
Australian Active Service Medal (AASM)
Vietnam Medal (VM)
Australian Defence Medal (ADM)
Anniversary of National Service Medal (ANSM)
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (RVCM)
Vietnam Commemorative Medal - Must not be worn with genuine medals
Here is the medal he is the self purchased medal he is wearing.
Brown served in Vietnam as a National Serviceman with the 1st Armoured Regiment from August 1969 until August 1970, that service would have taken courage and commitment for which he was rewarded five medals. The extra medal he has awarded himself diminishes his service.
We are receiving many reports of medals cheating resulting from media involvement on Commemorative Occasions. The number of reports being received indicates that there must be a plethora of medals cheats who do not get photographed.
If you are wearing medals you have not earned, or have mixed non official medals with your rack take them off, because the odds are you will be exposed as has Maurice Brown and many others in recent times.
Welcome Maurice, your actions have earned you a place on this website.
